The Pokémon Company Just Recorded Its Second Best Year In History

The Pokémon Company has released its financial report for the fiscal year ending February 2020, revealing that it’s had a mightily impressive 12 months.

As reported by gamebiz, The Pokémon Company’s net profit reached 15.3 billion yen (approx. $143m) over the last fiscal year, a 14.8% increase over the previous 12-month period. Of course, last year saw the launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield – which have gone on to be a huge success – but Pokémon GO continues to be a hugely significant money-earner for the company.

The chart below shows The Pokémon Company’s net profit over the last seven years. Note that the huge jump in profit, which has remained intact ever since it started in 2016/17, falls in line with the launch of Pokémon GO on mobile.

As noted by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, this result means that The Pokémon Company has recorded its second strongest year ever, just behind the year in which Pokémon GO first hit the market.

Pretty eye-watering figures, huh? As always, feel free to share your thoughts on this in the comments below.
