The PS Plus free games available to download and play during August 2019 are different for some members.
As many PlayStation gamers will already know, Sony sometimes gives away a different lineup of titles, depending on regions.
The PS Plus Asia collection can differ from what free PS4 games are made available in the UK and the United States.
In 2019, they’ve been offering almost identical titles, with top games included for the PS4 so far.
But in August, things are running a little differently as some PlayStation Plus gamers have noticed.
This includes the news that WipEout Omega Collection and Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus will be free to download from 7 August to September 3.
There is no Sniper Elite 4 included in this month’s Asia PS Plus lineup, with some fans pointing out the difference online.
Both games have similar ratings on Metacritic but offer very different gameplay experiences.
“Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus fuses together action-adventure and RPG elements with lavish visuals to create a nostalgic world unlike anything you’ve seen before,” the official game description explains.
“Navigate your way through hordes of nefarious monsters and massive boss battles in retro pixelated 2D glory.
“Solve puzzles, converse with locals and gain skills to restore hope to the once peaceful Exidus.”
Meanwhile, Sniper Elite 4 includes tactical third-person combat set in Italy during WW2, with a big focus on fighting the Axis powers using stealth and trickery.
Last month also saw some differences in games made available in different regions, with Aegis Defenders available alongside Detroit: Become Human in Asia.
And it wasn’t the only surprise change made by Sony, with PES 2019 being replaced at the last minute in the UK.
No real explanation was provided by Sony, who confirmed the change through a short statement: “We are making a swap to the PS Plus games lineup for July. This month, we are adding Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition, which also includes Heavy Rain (Beyond Two Souls), to the July games lineup instead of Pro Evolution Soccer 2019.
“We apologise for any inconvenience. Here’s more information about Detroit: Become Human, which will be available to PS Plus members along with Horizon Chase Turbo from 2nd July to 5th August.”
Other big news was also shared this week by Sony, highlighting the continuing success of the PlayStation brand.
We learnt only a few days ago that over 100 million PS4 units had been shipped worldwide to retailers.
And this came with another update regarding the PS Plus subscription service and its growth during 2019.
According to the latest data shared, there are now 36.2 million PlayStation Plus subscribers who are active.
That’s a significant number to have, especially considering it was at just under 34 million at the same time in 2018.
The only bad news is that there has been a dip when compared to last month, although this will probably be put down to a seasonal flux.
It should also be noted that PS Plus gamers only have a short time to grab the current lineup of free games.
July’s PlayStation Plus roster will be replaced on August 6 with WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4.
