Where Did ShakerBot+ Come From?
We’ve all been there: you’re deep in a focused workday, only to step away for a quick coffee, a stretch, or a moment to gather your thoughts during a long call—and within minutes, the laptop locks. Re-entering passwords and navigating two-factor authentication becomes an unwelcome interruption that breaks concentration and wastes time. The same thing happens in presentations when the screen dims without constant mouse movement, or in virtual meetings where inactivity suddenly logs you out. These small but frequent disruptions add up, and they’re frustrating enough that we felt compelled to do something about it.
After looking at the options on the market—most of them either bulky mechanical jigglers limited to external mice or basic USB devices with no real control or scheduling—we realized there was a clear need for a more intelligent, user-friendly solution.
That realization led RealIOTTech to create the original ShakerBot. They were genuinely pleased when the campaign exceeded its funding goal in just a few days and even more gratified by the feedback that followed. Users told RealIOTTech it made their workdays smoother, kept PC games running overnight without interruption, and eliminated those unexpected logouts that derail momentum. Hearing how it helped people in their daily routines was one of the most rewarding parts of the project.
Encouraged by that response and guided by the thoughtful suggestions RealIOTTech received, they set out to improve it. Technology has moved forward—USB-C has become standard, devices are more compact—and they wanted to incorporate those advances while making the behavior even more natural and reliable.
The result is ShakerBot+.
It’s noticeably smaller, so it fits unobtrusively into modern laptop docks, travel kits, or tight workspaces. They’ve equipped it with a native USB-C connector for dependable, reversible connectivity, and they offer an optional USB-A adapter as a low-cost add-on for older ports.
At the heart of the upgrade is an enhanced randomization algorithm that produces cursor movements and timing patterns far closer to genuine human activity—subtle, varied, and non-repetitive—so monitoring software, PC games, long processes, and streaming sessions remain convinced you’re present.
Scheduling is straightforward and flexible: set your preferred workdays and start/stop times, and the built-in randomization gently extends activity a little beyond those windows—starting slightly early and, when useful, continuing later (for instance, after you leave a few minutes early on a Friday). Internet time synchronization keeps everything accurate without manual adjustment.
