Final Fantasy 14 reveals the Pictomancer, a new ranged DPS caster job coming to the critically-acclaimed MMORPG in the Dawntrail expansion.
Final Fantasy 14 just revealed the Pictomancer, an artistic caster class coming in the Dawntrail expansion. This stylish new DPS job will be available to players once the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion releases this summer.
During the second Fan Festival in London, Final Fantasy 14 revealed the Viper, the first new job coming in Dawntrail. However, Final Fantasy 14 teased the identity of a second caster class coming to the game soon, wearing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt to tease what the job might be.
At the final Fan Festival in Japan, Final Fantasy 14 have revealed the second new job is the Pictomancer, a class players might recognize from Final Fantasy 6. The Final Fantasy 14 version of the Pictomancer uses their brush weapon to paint pictures of monsters, weapons, and landscapes and then charges it with aether to bring these images to life. The special visual effects for this new class are reminiscent of Okami or Splatoon and will provide a charming flair to the roster of Final Fantasy 14 jobs.
Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Pictomancer Job Features
- Ranged magical DPS caster class that wields a brush as a weapon.
- Paints monsters, weapons, landscapes, and more to fight enemies and buff their party.
- It uses unique, pastel colors and effects that are unlike any other Final Fantasy 14 job.
- Krile, the iconic Scion of the Seventh Dawn Archon, is picking up this new job and will be available as a new Duty Support character.
- Players can pick up the Pictomancer job in Gridania once they reach level 80 on at least one other job.
The Pictomancer job will have some buffs and party support, but while it will not be as attack-focused as the Black Mage, it is not a true support job, and will not have a resurrection ability like the Red Mage or Summoner. It will use a mixture of instant abilities and spells with cast times. Krile uses this new job in Final Fantasy 14‘s Duty Support system and also showed off some of their beautiful abilities in the extended Dawntrail trailer.

Though Pictomancer is the final regular job being introduced in Dawntrail, Final Fantasy 14 revealed the Beastmaster is coming sometime after the expansion’s release. This new class will be a limited job, similar in function to Blue Mage, meaning it can’t be used in all the game’s content, but will have other unique gameplay mechanics, possibly involving capturing various monsters. Players can expect to learn more about this mysterious job and other upcoming features sometime after Dawntrail’s release.
