Blizzard and Grinding Gear Games Won’t Comment on Elon Musk Account Boosting

Recently surfaced messages from Elon Musk have suggested that he has paid to have his Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 accounts boosted by other high-level players.

Both Blizzard and Grinding Gear Games have declined to comment on claims of Elon Musk’s accounts in Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 being boosted. Throughout recent years, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO has often professed his avid love for gaming, sharing anecdotes about his time spent playing games like Elden Ring and Diablo. Musk has even claimed to be a particularly skilled gamer on several occasions, stating that he was ranked 19th on Diablo 4‘s global leaderboard. However, recent allegations have called Elon Musk’s gaming prowess into question.

While Elon Musk has often livestreamed himself playing games, fans have called into question the tech mogul’s actual skills. Fans have frequently scrutinized his gameplay and understanding through his streams, with many claiming that Musk does not understand some basic game mechanics despite being so highly-ranked in Path of Exile 2. Recent information has even suggested that Musk may have paid to have his accounts “boosted” on Path of Exile and Diablo 4, with many calling for him to be banned. Now, Blizzard and Grinding Gear Games are declining to comment on the situation.

Blizzard, Grinding Gear Games Decline Comments on Elon Musk Controversy

As reported by IGN, an inquiry to Blizzard and Grinding Gears Games would not reveal whether the developers intended to take action against Musk. Blizzard confirmed in the inquiry that it does not issue public comments about “individual player enforcement,” meaning fans may have to wait to find out the fate of Musk’s Diablo 4 account. Both Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 directly state that account boosting is against the terms of service, with breaking the rules potentially leading to suspensions or even full account terminations.

The lack of insight into the situation from Blizzard and Grinding Gear Games has called many fans into protest against the companies. Some have claimed that the lack of action “undermines the integrity” of the online games, with account boosting typically being met with harsh punishments from developers. Fans have also suggested that Musk should not be able to “buy his way to the top,” echoing the sentiment that he should be held accountable to Diablo 4‘s terms of service agreement. Even popular streamers like Asmongold have called out Elon Musk to back up his gaming achievements.

While Elon Musk’s status as a high-level player has been called into question, the billionaire mogul has often looked to ingrain himself further in gaming. Elon Musk floated the idea of potentially purchasing Hasbro last year, criticizing a Dungeons and Dragons writer and inquiring about the toy juggernaut’s value. Musk has also heavily pushed the advancement of AI in gaming, suggesting he was interested in starting an AI game studio. Elon Musk’s controversial status within the gaming community doesn’t look to be going away anytime soon.
