Nintendo is moving ahead with the development of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 on Switch, but the latest news might provide disappointing for some.
Many fans want to see Nintendo announce a 2020 release date for the next Legend of Zelda game.
The first proved a massive seller on the Switch and Link’s Awakening is another success for the console.
But there’s still a good chance that next year will be without a major Zelda game launch for fans.
Recent rumours have suggested that Nintendo have some very big plans for BOTW 2, which would, unfortunately, mean waiting longer than 2020.
And while the company have not provided any meaningful updates of late on the progression of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, they are looking to expand their team.
A new job posting, via Inverse, in Japan has been spotted by fans and includes details on expanding the BOTW 2 team.
According to the posting – via an online translation – Nintendo is looking for a Scenario Planner and Level designers.
The new positions would be based out of Kyoto and would involve having practical experience in scenario writing and text creation.
Meanwhile, Level Designers would be needed to: “Create, adjust, and implement game events /dungeons/fields.”
“A series of operations from enemy planning, specification creation and adjustment, and implementation.”
The positions sound pretty important and are all linked to teams working on the Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel.
Games companies are always on the lookout for new talent and it appears that the new Zelda project is moving forward nicely.
But it also suggests that there is plenty of work left to do and may even hint at the idea of the new Zelda game launching in 2021.
This would fit in with a recent rumour suggesting that Nintendo want to launch a new Switch “Pro” console in the same year.
Emulating the success of the original Switch, Nintendo will hope that the second Breath of the Wild game can be just as good at selling consoles.
It’s been claimed that this unannounced device is capable of running Breath of the Wild 2 in 4K and at 60fps.
Other alleged leaked information includes the new Zelda game being called “Breath of the Darkness”.
This a title that has been mentioned before in leaks and has so far not been confirmed by Nintendo.
While Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 is almost guaranteed to be a huge seller for Nintendo, other games have also been proven popular.
Recent reports indicate that The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening may have already shifted over 400k units in Europe.
It was previously confirmed to be the fastest-selling Switch game of 2019 on the continent, although it’s likely Pokemon Sword and Shield will give it a run for its money this November.
With strong sales in Japan, Link’s Awakening has given Nintendo fans a thirst for more Legend of Zelda games in the future.
And following the short trailer shown at E3 2019, fans are looking to find out as much as possible about the next Zelda adventure.
But with no major game shows left in the calendar, fans might have to wait until 2020 for their next major update.
