Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game is now open for beta sign-ups.

Netflix has officially unveiled Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game, a new online action co-op game telling a standalone story in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon universe. This new title, developed by Super Evil Megacorp (TMNT: Splintered Fate) will allow players to “join the resistance” by corralling a team of space warriors, and sending them off into battle against hordes of enemies.

As detailed, it focuses on “the long-standing political alliance between the tyrannical Motherworld and the warrior planet of Krypt” as it’s on the brink of collapse. You’ll “create a hero, chose your weapon, then join a covert rebellion on Krypt as you fight alongside other players to loosen the Motherworld’s grip on the planet.”

Players can choose from four classes – Bannerguard, Evoker, Kindred, Forsaken – and earn various gear to customise these heroes, through battles against the Motherworld’s “insurmountable war machine.”

You can see some of this action in the first trailer for the game, released during Netflix Geeked Week:

As announced, beta sign-ups are now available, with select players on mobile invited to test the game ahead of its launch in 2025.

Given the critical reception to Rebel Moon – which was lambasted as a bland Star Wars knock-off on release – the news of a Rebel Moon game adaptation comes as a surprise. That said, it’s worth noting there was major faith in this multi-media franchise prior to its release, based on Zack Snyder’s work creating the cinematic DC universe, and cult films like Sucker Punch and 300. Video games take time to develop, and we know this adaptation was in the works as early as 2023.

Currently, it’s unclear what’s next for the Rebel Moon franchise, and whether Netflix will push ahead with plans to expand this cinematic universe. While fans wait for more news, there is at least this upcoming video game to look forward to, and with the talents of Super Evil Megacorp behind the game, there is hope it could eclipse its source material.
