The game will have “revealing armour” and “anatomy.”
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be featuring “deep cleavage” and “partially exposed breasts” according to a recently released statement by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. The game has been rated “T for Teen” because of its “language, mild blood, suggestive themes,” and “violence.” Having been pushed forward by almost two months, the game will be released on July 29, 2022.
Before describing any of the sexual content, the ESRB points out the various depictions of violence in the game. “This is a role-playing game in which players follow fighters through a conflict between two nations,” the group remarks. “From a third-person perspective, players complete quests and engage in melee battles against enemies (e.g. animals, creatures, human boss characters). Combat is highlighted by impact sounds, explosions, and cries of pain. Cutscenes depict further instances of violence: characters impaled by a sword, a character shooting herself off-screen, a man stabbing himself off-screen. A handful of scenes depict blood (e.g. droplets falling from a wounded character, drips of blood on a character’s face).”
Adding to its description of the different forms of violence in the game, the group goes on to say that “some fantasy characters/ creatures are designed with revealing armour and/ or anatomy (e.g. deep cleavage, partially exposed breasts).”
In addition to this violent and sexual content, the ESRB also points out how “the words ‘shit,’ ‘arsehole,’ and ‘bitch’ appear in the dialogue.”
The inclusion of this relatively mature content will come as no surprise to fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise. The developer behind the game, Monolith Software, is well known for its “revealing armour.” The first entry in the franchise even had “partial nudity” according to the ESRB. The description of the second game notes that it features “suggestive material” including “female characters/ creatures wearing outfits that expose large amounts of cleavage” and “camera pans and lingering shots on buttocks and/ or breasts.”
