After multiple delays, Ubisoft’s new multiplayer shooter, XDefiant, is finally going to release. The game became popular after successful playtests in 2023, but due to delays, the game has taken longer to release than expected.
During Ubisoft’s recent corporate earnings call, the company confirmed that XDefiant will be released sometime this quarter. Given that we’re already well into February, that would mean that the game will finally launch with ‘Season 0′ within a handful of weeks.
When is XDefiant Releasing? – Latest Update on Development
XDefiant’s release could be just around the corner. The latest update from Mark Rubin gives players hope that the wait won’t be much longer.
With the game arriving before the end of March, it would seem that any lingering issues with netcode and stability have now been fixed. The game may well be re-going through console platform certification right now.
XDefiant was initially planned as a Tom Clancy cross-over game but after fan complaints, Ubisoft pivoted, turning it into its own IP with original characters. Buzz around the game began to build after playtests commenced in 2023. Since then, fantastic shooters like The Finals have emerged, so it will be interesting to see if XDefiant can still maintain the hype it built up last year.
