“The cult classic Space Marine franchise is about to return with a high-octane new experience set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.”

The developer behind the upcoming Warhammer 40:000: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive, recently gave fans of this popular franchise their first good look at the gameplay. The trailer was released on the streaming platform YouTube earlier this week, offering players a sneak peek at this highly anticipated third-person shooter.

Starring the beloved character Lieutenant Titus, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 puts players into the role of a Space Marine, described as a “superhuman warrior who protects humanity from untold horrors in brutally efficient third-person action.”

“Expect the distinctively fast and fluid game feel from best-in-class studio Saber Interactive, the team, and engine behind World War Z,” the official description for the teaser trailer explains. “Heed the call of battle. For there is only war. The cult classic Space Marine franchise is about to return with a high-octane new experience set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.”

The voice acting represents one of the most notable deviations from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. According to the developer, the role of Lieutenant Titus was recast for the sequel, having been voiced by Mark Strong in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. The character is currently being voiced by Clive Standen.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has at least for now been scheduled to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S at some point in 2023. The combat was described back in June during a developer interview as a “mix between in-your-face melee combat along with some really cool over-the-top weapons.” Saber Interactive summed up the situation by saying that “you’re either tearing up enemies in front of you or you’re blowing them away from the back of the battlefield. It’s the best of both worlds.”
