The Big Hollow: 1982 challenges players to think like a profiler in a tightly focused 2–3 hour FBI case. Demo available now on Steam and GOG.

Developer Krams Design and publisher DANGEN Entertainment have announced The Big Hollow: 1982, a dark, 2D animated murder mystery launching on PC later in 2026. Players can start the investigation today with a free demo, now available on Steam and GOG.

A tightly crafted 2–3 hour investigative thriller, The Big Hollow: 1982 delivers a complete, self-contained case focused on psychological profiling, grounded crime scene analysis and cinematic storytelling. Designed as a lean, distraction-free experience, the game emphasizes deduction and behavioral interpretation over filler dialogue or sprawling exploration.

About The Big Hollow: 1982

For fans of true crime, puzzles and modernized 2D point-and-click adventures, The Big Hollow: 1982 is about deduction through a grounded, cinematic lens: The Case of the Golden Idol meets The Silence of the Lambs.

It’s 1982, and in a small truck stop community where everybody knows everybody, Ida and Bonnie’s disappearances left questions that no one dared to ask out loud. For the FBI, where the term ‘serial killer’ is as new as their Behavioral Science Unit, this case isn’t just about murder—it’s a test of whether these monsters can really be mapped.

You are Desmond, methodical and intuitive, learning the art of criminal profiling under Lenore Davidson, the cold, exacting representative of the BSU. Your insights could prove the unit’s worth, or expose its limitations.

Ida and Bonnie’s case is full of fragments, contradictions, and unfolding secrets. To solve it, you must decipher the ‘why’ behind the crime, shaping Lenore’s impression of your potential as a profiler. Interpret what you see, uncover the meaning, and find your killer.

FEATURES:

  • A tightly focused 2.5 to 3 hour case that tells a deep, atmospheric story in the 1980s American South
  • Investigate a gritty setting beautifully illustrated with a unique 2D art style
  • Examine evidence using techniques inspired by FBI thought processes and procedure
  • Interpret evidence as you see fit, and influence the outcome of the investigation
  • Experience a gradual and natural expansion of evidence and complexity

The Big Hollow: 1982 will launch on PC in 2026. Players can wishlist the game and download the demo today on Steam and GOG.

Find details in the evidence, interpret behaviors, and prove your worth to the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit. A dark, atmospheric 2D animated murder mystery awaits.
