Many Splatoon fans have put countless hours into the series, and Nintendo is rewarding those players by allowing them to import their save data into Splatoon 3 to get some bonus rewards, specifically with Splatoon 2. So, for those players out there that have spent a lot of time with Splatoon 2 and want to reap some benefits, keep reading to find out how to import the data and what comes out of it.
How to Import Splatoon 2 Save to Splatoon 3
As soon as players purchase Splatoon 3 and boot it up on their Nintendo Switch, they’ll be greeted with a message stating that Splatoon 2 save data has been found on the console, and players can choose whether to import it or not. Of course, this will only appear if there is actually save data for Splatoon 2 on the Switch itself. If someone owns the game but has yet to play it properly, they should do that first and get a clean save file.
What are the Bonuses for Importing Save Data?
The experienced Splatoon players that decide to import their save data into Splatoon 3 will get several bonuses to hit the ground running in multiplayer.
First off, players will receive three Gold Sheldon Licenses, which are used to unlock some of the best weapons from Sheldon in Splatsville. The Licenses will be given to players after they complete their first online Splatoon 3 match.
The second thing that happens is that players can join Anarchy Battles from the get-go, regardless of player level. Anarchy Battles are the replacement for Ranked battles in previous Splatoon games, throwing players into one of four competitive modes: Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz.
And lastly, depending on the player’s online ranking in Splatoon 2, they’ll be matched up with players at a similar skill level, and the rank will be set at a higher level from the start.
Should You Import the Save Data?
It’s really up to the player whether they want to start Splatoon 3 with the added perks or not. Since it’s been five years since Splatoon 2 launched, some players might want to learn everything over again and take things at a slower pace. However, importing data is the way to go for those who want to skip some tutorials, get great weapons, and start ranking up fast.
