Get ready to be spooked in higher definition.

The creepiness looks like it’s ready to get crispier, smoother, and more high definition. That’s because the PlayStation 5 versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard appear to be on the horizon. In fact, they might be released as soon as next week. What’s more, they’ll be free PS4 to PS5 upgrades as long as you own the previous-gen version already.

According to PlayStation Game Size (via PushSquare) the file sizes of the three games have been determined while they settle themselves into the PSN backend. Resident Evil 2 weighs in at 21.834 GB and Resident Evil will take up 20.48 GB on your SSD. But the file size for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard couldn’t be found (perhaps it’s lurking in a spooky cellar somewhere).

Resident Evil is a Capcom series, of course, and the venerable Japanese games company is hosting a digital showcase on June 13, where it is likely to announce these PS5 versions. The developer and publisher will be “diving deeper into details and news on previously announced titles” during the 35-minute show. We should be expecting Resident Evil Village DLC and Resident Evil: ReVerse too.

Recently we learned that one of the best entries in the series, and one of the best games period, is being remade. Resident Evil 4 will have all-new graphics powered by the PS5, and a real-life model, a Dutchwoman called Freya who lives in Japan, revealed her role in the game.

Producer Edwin Edso reassured fans that the remake will preserve the essence of the original, saying: “We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it”, he said. “This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernising the graphics, and updating the controls to a modern standard”.

Meanwhile, fans should look forward to those updates of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 for next week for those fortunate enough to own a PS5.
