Assassin’s Creed’s Abstergo Industries is making an appearance in Haven with update 19.1’s new crossover content along with many other additions.
Assassin’s Creed and PUBG: Battlegrounds have been brought together for a limited-time collaboration event featuring new emotes, gun charms, parachutes, costumes, and even the iconic “leap of faith” ledge jump. A new piece of tactical gear along with a new weapon and vehicle are also coming to PUBG: Battlegrounds with the 19.1 update.
Although PUBG: Battlegrounds had humble beginnings as a mod for ARMA 2 around 2013, it quickly became a worldwide phenomenon inspiring an entire generation of battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone. As an online live-service game, PUBG regularly introduces new content to shake up the gameplay as well as developing frequent patches aimed at balancing, bug fixing, optimization, and implementing new features. Part of the appeal of live-service games is the promise of something new always on the horizon, and PUBG has a reputation for making surprisingly interesting additions.
Update 19.1 is bringing Assassin’s Creed‘s Abstergo Corporation into the Haven map, with the company assuming control of one of the map’s buildings. Sharp-eyed players can find a hidden Animus machine along with one of Assassin’s Creed‘s signature “leap of faith” ledges strategically placed on the building’s rooftop. New Assassin’s Creed-themed cosmetic rewards can be earned through gameplay, including costumes, bag skins, parachute skin, an emote, and more. This occasion also marks the first time the Haven map has made an appearance since Season 16.
Several new items for PUBG have also made it into the update. The new MP9 weapon is available on the Deston map and is the first full-auto SMG that uses 9mm ammunition, giving players a worthy alternative to weapons like the P90 thanks to a more common ammo type. To compensate, the MP9 has a slightly lower effective range, lower fire rate, and reduced damage compared to the P90.
A new item, the Folded Shield, can now be found on any map. This portable deployable cover has 1500 HP, giving players a chance to take cover in open spaces. The new Blue Chip Detector uses a primary weapon slot and scans for enemies within 100m, revealing nearby enemies as dots on the map. A new vehicle, the Pillar Security Car, has a max speed of 81mph (130km/h) with controllable lights and sirens, and players may find high-quality equipment in the trunk.
PUBG has had numerous crossovers with other franchises in the past, such as the Resident Evil and PUBG Mobile crossover back in 2019 and the PUBG meets Hot Pockets promotional event earlier this year. The Assassin’s Creed crossover event will run from August 9 to September 6 on PC and from August 17 to September 14 on consoles.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
