Pokemon Go news: EX Raid reveal for March following Wizards Unite update | Gaming | Entertainment

New EX Raid passes have been announced for Pokemon Go on Android and iOS.

These can be used to unlock a special encounter, held at a specified location and time.

From what has been shared by the lucky few who earned an EX Raid Pass this month, Pokemon Go trainers in the UK will be battling on March 20.

Official times will be shared on the notification sent out to Trainers today, and if you haven’t received one, it probably means you’re going to miss out.

EX Raids are similar to Raid Battles except that they require a special pass to attend and provide the opportunity to catch the most sought after Pokémon.

Additionally, if you earn an EX Raid Pass, you can invite one of your Ultra Friends or Best Friends to join you in the EX Raid Battle.

This is a welcome new feature added by Niantic last year and makes the event more accessible.

  1. When you receive an EX Raid Pass, there will be an option to invite a friend. Tap on Invite.
  2. Select one friend to invite to your EX Raid. You can only invite friends that you have reached the Ultra Friends or Best Friends Friendship level with.
  3. Once the invitation is sent, the EX Raid invitation will appear in your friend’s Bag and both you and your friend will be able to attend the EX Raid.

From what has been shared online so far, the next EX Raids will feature Deoxys and will be running in the afternoon on March 20.

Fans will be pleased to see that the EX Raid schedule is settling back down, following a lengthy period of sporadic announcements.

“I have found that the system prioritizes giving you a pass at the gym you have a higher badge level for when you raid at more than one gym that gets an ex raid,” one user writes.

“I haven’t found this to be true at all. I normally raid around my job, where I have gold badges on both EX Raid gyms,” another Trainer writes.

“If I go out on a weekend with people to an entirely new neighbourhood for me, I can count on getting an EX Raid pass from a gym that I’ve touched only once.”

It follows a big announcement regarding Niantic’s next major AR game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

It appears that the new title will be drawing a lot of inspiration from Pokemon Go’s success, with a rundown of gaming features announced today.

Wizards Unites will include players searching the real world for items that have appeared unexpectedly from the Wizarding World.

Players will need to cast spells to remove these items in-game and Wizards will also need to visit Inns.

Spells will cost Spell Energy which will need to be replenished at Inns found around the globe, which sounds a lot like PokeStops in Pokemon Go.

A calamity has befallen the wizarding world, causing artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories to mysteriously appear in the Muggle world. Witches and wizards from across the globe must come together to solve the mystery of The Calamity, overcome the confounding chaotic magic that surrounds these “Foundables,” and return them to their rightful place, keeping them safe from Muggle eyes.

Your journey begins as a new recruit of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, established by the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards for the purpose of investigating and containing The Calamity.

As you step outside and explore the world, the Map will reveal Traces of magic, highlighting the location of magical Foundables. While these Traces can be found all around you, certain Foundables may be more likely to appear at various types of real-world locations including parks, banks, municipal buildings, college campuses, libraries, monuments, zoos, art galleries, and more. Cast a variety of spells to overcome the Confoundable magic, keep the magical Foundables safe, and send them back to the wizarding world. By returning Foundables, you’ll earn unique rewards that can be tracked in the game Registry.

As you cast spells, you’ll consume Spell Energy. Be sure to regularly stop by Inns, found at Muggle locations around the world, to collect food and drinks that replenish your Spell Energy. While exploring, you’ll also come across ingredients that can be used to brew Potions, which will aid you in different aspects of your Wizarding World journey. These ingredients can be found on the Map, varying by the environment, weather, and time of day, as well as in specially designated Greenhouses.

Make sure to also keep an eye out for Portmanteaus, which can be unlocked to reveal Portkeys that whisk you away to iconic wizarding world locations. For the first time you’ll be able to step into a full 360-degree Advanced AR immersive experience in places like Ollivander’s Wand Shop.

Test your combat skills by visiting one of the multiple Fortresses indicated on the Map. Fortresses are host to Wizarding Challenges, real-time multiplayer battles against dangerous foes, including Death Eaters and soul-sucking Dementors. You won’t want to face these threats alone–gather your friends to take on threats of even higher levels and recover rarer magical Foundables from within the Fortress walls.

To further develop your wizarding skills, you can also choose to specialize in different magical Professions. Aurors, Magizoologists, and Professors each have their own unique skills and abilities that will come in handy at different times, particularly during Wizarding Challenges. Team up and strategize with witches and wizards from other Professions to tip the scales in your favor.
