Further evidence that Great Deku Tree set might be the real deal.
Lego has fueled rumors The Legend Of Zelda will finally be getting an official set by issuing takedowns to YouTube channels using the possibly leaked images. The takedowns also apply to a Lord of the Rings set which was confirmed to be real earlier this month.
Reported by VGC, Lego has been issuing takedowns for videos featuring images of the Rivendell and Great Deku Tree sets. The Rivendell set is now official, will be made up of more than 6,000 pieces, and retails at $500. The Zelda set, the images of which may have come from an internal survey at Lego, has not been officially revealed.
Its place alongside the LOTR images in Lego’s takedown notices has those who were already fairly sure it was really convinced that Link will finally be immortalized in Lego very soon. The deal to make that happen is already in place as Lego has been making Mario sets for a while.
Hey @ZeldaUniverse and anyone else who covered the The Great Deku Tree lego set – take down your videos ASAP. LEGO ain't messing around, even though we aren't the sources. Also: By doing this, they just CONFIRMED IT'S REAL. So there you have it. pic.twitter.com/kBa6dAGpko

It makes sense that if Lego and Nintendo are planning to extend their partnership to other IPs, Zelda would be the next step. Arguably the second biggest Nintendo series after Mario, Pokemon not included since its building brick rights are owned by a Lego rival, and there’s also Tears of the Kingdom‘s launch to consider. A huge game arriving on Switch which Nintendo will want to celebrate and capitalize on with as much accompanying merch as possible.
Even if the images of the Great Deku Tree set are the real deal, it’s not certain, maybe even a little unlikely, that the final product will look exactly like it. Lego sets go through a number of stages and revisions between the concept and the final product. Take the Sonic set, for instance. Born from a fan idea submitted through Lego’s Ideas program, while it’s clear to see the final set was inspired by the original design, it underwent a lot of changes.
