Kickstarter Project: ZERO Sievert

A post apocalyptic game inspired by STALKER

Game Geeks News is proud to bring you another amazing Kickstarter project. Since Luca Carbonera was a child, he always had a passion for video games and as he grew up, so did his passion for creating them. ZERO Sievert was born as a personal project inspired by the STALKER series of games.

ZERO Sievert is a post-apocalyptic 2D game inspired by STALKER. Explore a fictional part of Russia after an old nuclear power plant explodes, releasing radiation that has changed the environment and living beings. A few survivors have taken refuge in an old bunker, called ZERO Sievert, and it is here that the player will be able to accept new missions, build a base, trade with vendors and manage his equipment.

Maps are procedurally generated but with points of interest manually created. This ensures an always different map whose points of interest make logical and realistic sense. Loot can be found everywhere on the maps so be prepared to explore!.

With more than 150 different items Luca decided to implement an inventory system that takes into account the size and weight of each object. The transportable weight is not much and it will be up to the player to decide what to take and what to leave, according to his needs.

If there is one thing we like about a shooter game, it’s the possibility to customise your weapons. ZERO Sievert features customisation of almost every part of the weapon: stock, pistol grip, barrel, scope, hand guard, muzzle brake, laser, torch. The number of combinations is very high, so you can choose whether to create a weapon you like or go for the min/max stats.

There are factions in the territory, and the player can decide whether to join one of them.
This will change the player’s relationship with the other factions, which will be indicated by texts and dialogues, and the other factions may become hostile towards the player.

DYNAMIC MAPS
Procedurally generated maps allow endless possibilities for change during the game.
Once you enter the map, in addition to the static spawns, NPCs of the different factions will be created and start wandering around the map, heading for the major points of interest.
This allows for an ever-changing and dynamic game. You never know what’s around the corner.

THE GAME WORLD
Luca`s idea was not to create an actual story for the player, but a series of primary missions to follow that will guide you through the different areas.
The history of the game world, places and characters will be told through NPCs, old newspapers and notes that can be found on maps.
So as the player continues his adventure, he can collect pieces of information that explain what happened.

So why Kickstarter?

Luca classes himself as a pretty straightforward and transparent guy who always had a passion for video games and as he got older, started to have a lot of fun creating them. ZERO Sievert started as a hobby project, but after receiving a lot of positive feedback and community support, Luca started to really believe in it.

This Kickstarter campaign is very important to Luca because it will determine whether ZERO Sievert will remain a hobby or become an actual job. Everyone knows that game development is a long and tedious journey, so he is hoping to release version 1.0 in the summer of 2022. By that time Luca would like the game to be as polished as possible.

Why Kickstarter is an important question, and as stated before, this campaign will allow Luca to work full time on the project, and that would already be a dream for him. Luca has set a relatively lower budget than the average of the other campaigns because that is the minimum needed to get the first version released on time.

To be clear, Luca wants to continue working on the project even after the release on steam. This campaign is about shortening the time and having a good and polished product on the first release.
