Kickstarter Project: Treats & Tricks – A fun fast-paced game where awesome pets clash in an ever-changing “Chain of Command”

0

Billions of people around the world play games every day. Whether it’s a video game, sports or just a board game, we find that playing games can improve certain skills such as multi-tasking, perception and learning. So before we discuss this fantastic idea of a truly amazing idea for a game, I would just like to give you all a little insight into the creators of this project.

Ángel and Daniel are two brothers who love games and animals. Born in Seville (Spain) but living in Nottingham (UK). They always wanted to start their own company and work in something they love. They were lucky to grow up in an environment full of pets, as their dad was a dog breeder, and thanks to that their house was always full of puppies to love and take care of. Gaming-wise, they both love anything from video games to board games. Nowadays, games like Catan, Carcassonne, Azul and regular playing cards are among some of their favourite go-to choices.

Ángel studied Computer Games Art and is the designer behind the art of the game; Daniel is the mind behind how to play. They believe Kickstarter was the right tool to bring the game to the pet-lover and board-gamer communities. Using this platform will allow them to create the game only when they have the quantities needed to do so, minimizing the risks for the backers and themselves.

Help Ángel and Daniel make this game and make it yours along the way by personalizing cards! If you like the idea below and want to help fund this project and make it happen, please back visit their kickstarter campaign.

About the project:

Treats & Tricks is a fast, constantly subject to change game, where players use strategy and luck to win as many pets and points as they can. [2-4 Players]

So.. What is Tricks & Treats ?

The goal of the game is to get the most points possible. Players score points by winning rounds. This is how:

1. Set aside the 4 cards belonging to the Chain of Command from the rest of the deck. Shuffle them and place them in line on the left to right.

2. Flip the Chain of Command, the order obtained will define the strength of each pet group, the strongest group being the card on the left end and the weakest the one on the right.

3. Every card has two scores on the left side, one for Treats, placed on the top, with another for Tricks, placed on the bottom, and used only as an optional rule. For the time being, we will only use the ones on the top.

4. The strongest card is determined using the order from the laid down Chain of Command cards. The strength of Pets within the same Pet Group are resolved using their Treat score.

5. After dealing three cards to each person, the youngest player starts the first hand. Choose which card to play from your hand and place it facing up on the table. The round continues clockwise until all players play one card.

6. Whoever places the strongest card wins the turn! The winner adds all cards played this round to his own score deck.

7. Once the scoring for the round is finished, each player draws a card from the main deck, starting with the player who won the previous turn and going clockwise. All players must have 3 cards at the beginning of each turn while there are still cards remaining in the main deck.

8. The game continues hand after hand until all cards from the deck are drawn, played and scored. At the end of the game, each player adds all Treats points scored in their score deck. The winner of the game is the player with the most points.
