Like many collectable card games (CCGs), TOME is a player-versus-player deck builder that emphasizes creative strategy and unique card combinations.
However, Tome has special features that set it apart from its contemporaries in terms of gameplay and deckbuilding.

With TOME getting the cards your deck relies on, your hand has never been more reliable. Wanting to wield a specific interaction between certain cards drives strategy-based CCGs, and we let our players fulfil that want. There won’t be matches where a player’s deck never ‘gets going.’ TOME addresses this issue by affording players the opportunity to put the cards they really need right into their hands throughout the match. You can build a unique deck that specializes in any form of magic you want to embrace; become a master monster summoner, a rapid-fire spell slinger, an artefact wielding spell blade, or something entirely different!

Most sorcery cards, like Boil, can serve as a player’s ‘signature’ spell, meaning that the player always has access to it on the battlefield. However, a spell chosen to be a signature has a unique cooldown in addition to its normal associated costs.

TOME strives to deliver on player customization and community features. You can unlock unique Tome skins and card sleeves, as well as avatars, portrait frames. You can add friends from matches, join mage guilds, enable chat and talk to your opponents during a match. For those who support the Kickstarter, there are, of course, some unique customization rewards like these Tome skins!
Pledges start from as little as $1 but if you would like to grab one of these TOME sets, then you can from just $5 giving you a Five Core Set along with Two Unique Player Titles. Obviously, the more you pledge, the more you get, from Unique Portrait Frames and Card Sleeves to Unique Avatars. So be sure to check out this Kickstarter for more information.
Being pitted against an opponent whose deck simply counters yours from the start of the match is a real possibility in other card games and it can create one of the worst feelings for a player. This is a scenario TOME aims to eliminate. Nearly every deck imaginable is combatable by every other deck, even basic ones. The game rewards tactical play above all. Offering the opportunity to counter and come back is an integral part of TOME’s gameplay.
In accordance with increasing the interactivity of decks, certain non-interactive mechanics that are featured prominently in other card games, such as ‘milling’ and forcing discards — things that essentially don’t allow one player to play the game — are completely absent from TOME.

One of the biggest points in playing a collectable card game is the ability to collect cards by trading with other players. While other digital CCGs may not allow this, TOME grants players the ability to trade cards with one another using trade tokens earned throughout the play, but that’s not the only way to collect!

- Wildcard tokens are rewarded when opening booster packs. Players can use them to add any card they want to their collection if they have a token matching that card’s rarity!
- Trade tokens can be earned by winning matches and used by players to exchange cards — including campaign cards, cards with alternative borders and art styles, and more!
- Mint is earned from playing the game and can be used to purchase booster packs!.
