Auckland, New Zealand- After a car crash caused student to drop out of her studies, she used her time in recovery and love of tabletop role-playing games to design a brand new magnetic terrain system. “This is going to sound incredibly cheesy, but sometimes I do wonder if the brain-injury and whole accident was one of the best things that’s happened to me”.
Despite fighting through personality changes and injury-caused illiteracy at the time, Collins was able to bring this terrain to Kickstarter in 2020, successfully smashing her funding goal by over 2000%.
One year later Collins has levelled up and launched a second Kickstarter, collaborating with creatives around the globe such as Viva La Dirt League and Michael Mordor to offer specialised tiers and custom products to her backers. The project was fully funded in 12 hours and is pushing through further stretch goals.
In this second Kickstarter campaign, backers can choose from several different types of instantly snap-together, double-sided terrain without the need for clips or trays that you see in other systems. Terrain can even build vertically to make multiple levels. The basic terrain pack (covering 140 square inches of tabletop!) starts at just 65 USD and can be built and rebuilt to make literally hundreds of different dungeon shapes.
