So this week Game Geeks News are proud to bring you another amazing kickstarter project that was fully funded in just 24 hours of going live. Tanuki Creative Studio is an independent video game company founded by Dave Baljon. They are a small team of passionate people who are currently working on their first title called Jitsu Squad™ which is scheduled to be launched on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Steam PC and in Arcades.
Jitsu Squad is all about fast-paced cartoony action & wacky chaotic battles! It has the freedom & accessibility of games like Streets of Rage and Final Fight but with the speed & intensity of games such as Guilty Gear, Marvel vs Capcom II & Super Smash Bros.

Tanuki Creative Studio is a small indie game studio based in the Netherlands. The development of Jitsu Squad has been going strong for over a year now on a limited budget. At this point they have a good perspective on the remaining work that has to be done in order to bring the complete Jitsu Squad experience to your screen!. Many new enemies, bosses and stages have to be drawn up, animated and implemented into the game. New music and sound design have to be created, recorded and mastered as well. A part of the budget will go into producing, porting, shipping and promoting the game.
Importing stages and setting up assets are very time consuming. With the extended budget they will be able to expand the team to cover these time-consuming tasks. This way, each team member can focus on their own speciality.
Every pledge is deeply appreciated. And Tanuki Creative Studio will pour their heart and soul into making Jitsu Squad the best game possible.

MAXIMILIAN DOOD & YOOKA-LAYLEE REVEALED FOR UPCOMING 2D BEAT ’EM UP GAME: JITSU SQUAD!
February 18th 2021, Indie-Developer Tanuki Creative Studio revealed a new trailer for their upcoming Beat ’Em Up game Jitsu Squad, which features the buddy-up duo Yooka-Laylee by Playtonic Games, key creative talent behind the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country games. The trailer also reveals Maximilian Dood, a prominent figure in the fighting game community and creator of the biggest fighting game YouTube channel. A free demo of Jitsu Squad has launched today along with a Kickstarter campaign.
The revealed characters are part of an assist feature. During battle assist icons appear on screen and when activated summon a guest character to help players fight the enemies. Maximilan Dood and Yooka-Laylee are the first two assists revealed and the developers are hinting at more crossover characters in the future on their Kickstarter campaign page.
The trailer shows Maximilian Dood attacking with his dog Benny, who unleashes a huge energy blast from his paws into a group of unfortunate baddies. Maximilian also provided his voice-over for his appearance, shouting his famous phrase: LETS GOOOOOO!
Next up, the trailer reveals the buddy duo Yooka-Laylee jumping out of a Grand Tome (as seen in the original series). The sequence is followed up with the duo performing their special “Reptile Rush” attack, knocking out all enemies on screen.
