Game Geeks News are proud to bring you yet another amazing project currently running on kickstarter. Face the Music is a party game that will have you sharing your favourite songs and putting your DJ skills to the test.
The Game
What track would you play while sipping a cocktail on a tropical beach? What do you put on when you’ve just finished work on a Friday? Everyone has their favourite tracks for different occasions. Face the Music asks you the questions that will have you digging out those tracks and reminiscing about the stories behind them.
Each card in Face the Music presents a question that challenges you to pick a matching song. Use the cards to drive your party playlist or play for points and vote for your favourite tracks each round.
Wild cards are included to change the gameplay and even invite you to act out scenarios as your soundtrack plays. For those of you that want to get burnt, we’ve included drinking rules that are made for getting pre-drinks lit.
The Cards
Included are 173 Track cards that propose several fun questions to answer or scenarios to the soundtrack. On top of this, they include 17 Act it Out cards that require players to perform dances and act out scenes to their chosen tracks. 17 Impress the Judge cards and 17 Head to Head cards have also been added to switch up the gameplay and pit players against each other! Finally, 10 Over to You cards that allow you to create your own questions giving you a taste of how this all started!.
The Story
As two lifelong friends and music lovers, trading their favourite tracks and albums has always been something the creators love to do, especially in early 2020 whilst living together through the lockdown. To battle the boredom of quarantine, they sought ways of amusing themselves on the weekends. This is where the idea of Face the Music was born.
They would grab a few beers, stick on the speaker, and ask each other some cliché questions. What track would you have on if we were dancing in the club? What track would you play on a road trip? These questions led the creators of this project to regale some of their favourite memories and formed the essence of the game.
They carried on playing a lot, exhausting their list of cliché questions. They started creating scenarios that needed sound-tracking and competing to see which of their tracks worked best. Winning the lottery, strutting on a catwalk, entering a wrestling match were all personal favourites. They even acted them out after a few drinks!
The nights spent playing Face the Music and inventing the questions included in the game is a time they will never forget. The creators were in hysterics for most of it! Drawing on inspiration from their favourite life experiences brought so many stories to light.
Since those days they have played the game with family and friends. In each crowd, there are always unique song selections, different untold stories and plenty of laughs so the creators decided to share the game with the world and hope you will enjoy playing it as much as they have enjoyed creating it.
A little bit about the creators
Max Brown – Music and Quiz Enthusiast
Self-professed music nerd who gets overly competitive playing any type of game. Launching something like Face the Music was always going to happen! Max`s hope is that he can build a music-loving community that will contribute questions and ideas to enhance the game and show people why he loves it so much.
Jake Stace – Lover of Music
Jake’s love of music spans across all genres and what he’s listening to is highly dependent on his mood. In the gym hip-hop or techno house, while chilling it has to be alternative rock or chilled rap. Having the right song on at the right time is what Jake does, and that has been intertwined into Face the Music.
Your Pledge
Max and Jake are looking to raise £7,000 by the 19th of June. By pledging now, you do not have to pay until this date and only if they hit their target. Kickstarter campaigns are all or nothing, which is why your pledge is so important to them.
They have turned to crowdfunding to help them spread the word about our game. With music being so universal their ultimate idea is to create a Face the Music community where people can share their favourite tracks, stories and questions. By pledging they hope you can help build this from the ground up and join the fun.
The funding will help Max and Jake fulfil exclusive pre-orders before the game arrives in stores and online, as well as fund a very grand commercial idea/ PR stunt they hope can make a reality.
