Kickstarter Project: Dukes Of Nukes

0

A party game where someone secretly has the Nuke Codes, but who? Use cards and your deduction skills to steal the codes for yourself.

So this week Game Geeks News are proud to bring you another amazing kickstarter project currently in the pipeline. Created by brothers Skyler and Spencer Hardegree, Dukes Of Nukes is a fun party game for everyone.

The goal of the game is simple. Be the one player with the nuke codes at the end of the game. The game begins with everyone being dealt 5 or 7 cards (depending on the amount of players) with one person randomly and secretly being dealt the Nuke Codes card.

The game ends once all 5 DEFCON cards have been drawn. This means once 4 have been revealed, the game can end at any turn.

Most cards are meant to help you figure out who has the codes, steal the codes, or protect the code.

The 4 RED TEXT cards that must be played as soon as drawn are DEFCON, FALLOUT, MELT DOWN, and NAZI SWITCHEROO.

The game can end at any time, all it takes is that 5th DEFCON card being drawn. Make sure you secure those codes before the game ends abruptly!.

The rules are simple but, gameplay can get complex. Here are some helpful tips we have learned after extensive playtesting.

  • During normal play it will be revealed who has the Nuke Codes. Pay attention to who has the codes or who might have it so you don’t target the wrong person. The codes will switch hands a lot, both publicly and secretly.
  • If you are successful at stealing the codes from someone, don’t give a reaction. Use your poker face so you don’t become the new target right away.
  • Alternatively, you can give fake reactions. Act like you lost the codes, or pretend you got them. Manipulations can get your enemies to waste their cards on the wrong person, which can win you the game.
  • The more cards you have in your hand, the easier it will be to protect the codes once you get them. Try not to waste them.
  • Try not to get mad at each other.

All rewards are discounted from what we plan the retail price to be, especially the Early Bird Special.

The first expansion doesn’t have a planned date of release, but it will be the first thing worked on once this Kickstarter has ended.

The Print & Play version is a great alternative to avoid the current higher international shipping costs.

The $200 reward includes the base game, all future expansions, an individual social media shout out, your name on a thank you page on their website, and any name you want written on the box (name has to be approved by the developers). Both the name on the box and website can be anything you’d like (full name, nickname, dogs name, a funny word) it`s up to you. All this with FREE SHIPPING to anywhere in the world!

You will be considered a VIP. The amount of future expansions and their release date is unknown, but you will get every single one with no additional charge no matter where you live. Though the developers cannot guarantee any amount of future expansions.

Prices are for any reward you choose except for the Print & Play version and the $200 reward. This does not include Duties and Taxes for orders outside the USA.

The “Dukers” plan on using Amazon Fulfillment to ship Dukes Of Nukes in the USA. For all other countries, they plan on shipping them using USPS.

If the game proves popular, then in the future they will have copies of the game stocked in both Canada and the UK to provide cheaper shipping to the rest of the world and you’ll be able to purchase the game on their website and on Amazon.

Spencer and Skyler acknowledge the prices are high for international shipping so you may want to consider the Print & Play version for now or maybe even the $200 reward, which includes free shipping.

They are working with AdMagic to manufacture Dukes Of Nukes. Chances are you have played many games manufactured by them. They are reputable and professional.

The money raised will be for manufacturing cost and shipping only. They have already paid for everything leading up to this point. The art is all ready to go and in the hands of AdMagic.

Once the Kickstarter is successful, the money will go directly to AdMagic to start production. No messing around. They want you to start playing ASAP!

AdMagic wasn’t the cheapest option but they knew the reputation was worth the extra money. As for the quality of the cards, Spencer and Skyler didn’t want to go with the cheapest option like some other game makers. The card stock is 350gsm stock so it is thick and nice like we all deserve.

No stretch goals to get things the game should already have.

Spencer and Skyler Hardegree are the creators of the card game.

Their story is a simple one. They both play a bunch of card game/board games and thought one day “Why don’t we make one? We is smart ‘nough.” So they began pitching fresh ideas to each other and finally settled on the game now known as Dukes Of Nukes.

They made a rough prototype of the game using cut paper with sharpie, and played it with family and made many, many tweaks. Added new cards, cut cards that didn’t work, tried different rules, you name it. After numerous attempts they finally got it to what they think is perfect.

They then named the cards, created the artwork, and got a professional prototype made and were finally set and ready to go with their manufacturer.

Now the part where you come in. The next part of the process is to launch a Kickstarter campaign. With your support, they hope to make this game a real thing that everyone can enjoy.

Risks and challenges:
Since Spencer and Skyler have the game fully ready to go with their manufacturer at AdMagic the biggest risk is just distribution to backers and the timeline for that. They estimated their timeline for getting the game out to backers to be around July 2021. That is accounting for unforeseen issues and delays. So if everything goes right and there are no hiccups Dukes of Nukes should be ready for shipping sooner than July. Shipping costs will apply, so for more information on shipping costs, check out their kickstarter.
