SunSpear Games’ Kickstarter campaign for its new strategy-based video game IMMORTAL has achieved rapid growth and funding with the help of the gaming community. The game achieved its funding target within three and a half hours of going live on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. Within its first week, the project garnered over $100,000 in pledges, more than three times the initial goal.
The campaign was initially launched to gain early access players, which the company says has been the greatest success of the project. The IMMORTAL Discord community alone is now over 2,500 members, most joining from the MOBA and RTS gaming communities.
“I’ve been working with the SunSpear Games team for quite a while now and it’s not surprising that IMMORTAL would have broad appeal across the strategy spectrum,” Erik Lonnquist, aka “Doa” said. “The deep strategy of RTS, along with exciting MOBA-like gameplay, makes this game incredibly diverse and interesting.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sunspear and getting to playtest Immortal for a couple months now and it definitely does have a broad appeal that’s going to bring in players from lots of different strategy game genres,” Erik Lonnquist, aka ‘Doa’ said. “MOBA elements combined with traditional RTS depth of skill along with a really smoothly integrated team dynamic makes for a great game!”.
Early access to IMMORTAL is achieved through backing of the Kickstarter campaign, likely a strong reason for the games success on the crowdfunding platform. The company is expected to already have an internal beta late this year and an open beta late next year.
