GTA 6 release date news is headlined today by what could be a major boost for fans looking forward to the next title from Rockstar Games.
While GTA 6 hasn’t been officially announced by Rockstar Games there are plenty of rumours surrounding what’s next for the Grand Theft Auto series.
Most recently it was possibly let slip that work has begun on GTA 6, which will be music to PlayStation and Xbox fans’ ears.
But another GTA 6 release date rumour will surely also peek the interest of Grand Theft Auto fans.
More information has emerged about a shock rumour which claimed that GTA 6 could be out in 2020 and would also be a PS5 exclusive for a month.
This rumour originated from a post on Pastebin allegedly penned by a third-party developer that has knowledge of Sony’s PS5 plans.
Supposedly the PlayStation makers paid “big money” to have GTA 6 as a timed-exclusive on the PS5.
The PS5 getting GTA 6 ahead of the next Xbox would surely give it a big advantage in the new console wars.
And it is expected that the PS5 and Xbox Two could release in 2020, so the rumour does tie in with claims about the next-gen console’s launch windows.
However, fans had been left surprised by the claims that GTA 6 could be out in 2020 given that Red Dead Redemption 2 wasn’t released that long ago.
It would be very surprising for Rockstar Games to release another AAA title so soon after releasing another one.
But there are reasons to believe this source could be credible.
As revealed in a post by Dexerto, the source that claimed GTA 6 is coming in 2020 as a PS5 exclusive also correctly predicted the new PlayStation specs.
This could be a sign that the source is credible, but as always it’s best to take rumours with a pinch of salt until official confirmation.
The alleged insider also claimed that GTA 6 would be set in two cities – Liberty City and Vice City.
This information also ties into a previous rumour that emerged in 2018 claiming GTA 6 could be set in Miami.
In other GTA 6 news, a member of the gaming industry may have leaked that work on GTA 6 is currently underway.
A 3D artist that worked for Rockstar Games’ India studio briefly included GTA 6 on their online CV.
Bibin Michael claimed that he had created concept vehicles for GTA 5 and GTA 6, which hasn’t officially been announced yet.
Michael is credited in the thank you page for Red Dead Redemption 2 so he has worked at Rockstar Games.
Soon after the GTA 6 reference was spotted by members of GTA forums it was removed from Michael’s CV.
It remains to be seen if this specific leak turns out to be legit, with previous ones turning out be pranks.
