Ragnarok just got a whole lot bigger thanks to Valhalla, and right now it’s on sale for a whole lot less.
2023’s race to be crowned Game of the Year was such a close run thing that could have gone to at least three different titles, it’s easy to forget the year before was neck and neck until the very end too. Although Elden Ring took the title in 2022, not many would have been surprised to see God of War Ragnarok take the crown. One of the last big budget PlayStation exclusives to launch on PS4 and PS5, you can currently pick up the sequel for less than $30.
The PS4 version of Ragnarok is just $29.97 at Walmart, more than 50 percent less than its usual $59.99 price tag. Before you ask – or scurry off to Google to check – yes, Ragnarok’s recent Valhalla expansion is included with the PS4 version. The roguelike mode added to the game at the end of 2023 is critically acclaimed and I’m yet to hear a bad word said about it. Best of all, anyone who owns Ragnarok can download the DLC for free meaning you’re getting more game than ever for less than $30.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla, a free DLC expansion, announced for December
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio announced a free update to God of War: Ragnarok at The Game Awards 2023.

Unlike The Last Of Us Part 2 which will get a $10 remaster upgrade this week, you can’t upgrade to the PS5 version of Ragnarok without buying a new copy of the game. Lucky for anyone who’d prefer the PS5 version of the Santa Monica title, the current-gen version is on sale too. Slightly more expensive than the PS4 version at $39.97 because it has been reduced from the regular higher price of $69.99, the industry standard in this latest generation.

God of War: Ragnarok
Following on from 2018’s quasi-reboot, God of War Ragnarok continues the journey of Kratos and his son Atreus. This time, they must go up against the pantheon of Norse gods, culminating in a showdown for the ages.
No spoilers here, but with no more God of War officially announced for the time being, Valhalla is the perfect way to get a little extra while you wait. Actually it’s the best way to get a lot extra. It might seem like a fun roguelike mode to play to get you back into Ragnarok for five to ten hours, but it’s so much more than that. It builds on Ragnarok’s story in a way I really wasn’t expecting.
The next we see of Kratos and the God of War cast might well be in Amazon‘s live-action adaptation of the series. Still in the works, God of War is one of many games getting the TV and movie treatment while the getting is good alongside Horizon, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and It Takes Two. If all you want are games, and you want them for less, you can grab The Last Of Us Part 2 for $10 off right now, and you can then use that $10 to upgrade it to the PS5 remaster from Friday.
