Fortnite V-Bucks Found in Unexpected Location

A Fortnite V-Bucks card was recently discovered in an unusual place, with a photo quickly going viral in the game’s online community.

The V-Bucks card was seemingly abandoned on a random shelf in a store, acting as a reminder that sometimes, money may need to be spent on more important things than Fortnite in-game items.

Over the last several years, Epic Games has updated Fortnite in countless ways, most notably with its rotation of seasonal content that brings new items, characters, and, skins. The world-famous battle royale is just as notorious for its robust building and movement mechanics as its ever-growing roster of characters. Fortnite players can also find skins representing Marvel characters like Thor and Loki, as well as movie icons like the Terminator or the Xenomorph. However, these skins don’t come free, and one fan seemingly had to make a very difficult decision while shopping.

One Reddit user shared an image with the Fortnite community, cracking a joke after finding a V-Bucks card in an unexpected location. The card was sitting face up on a shelf of disinfectant, having been left behind during a shopping trip. “Someone’s Mum said no,” joked the Reddit user, a popular online phrase used in situations in which buyers seemingly choose a more practical, often real-world item over a digital good, toy, or game. The specific card was good for 2800 V-Bucks, which is enough to purchase several skins or other popular items from the Fortnite item shop.

Fortnite allows players to purchase V-Bucks both in-game or in physical stores, with the digital currency coming in multiple packs and value ranges. Most Fortnite skins fall between the 800-1200 V-Bucks range, but collaborations like the recent X-Men bundle, which includes Jubilee, Colossus, and Cyclops, will run players 3,800 of the shiny silver coins. One of the game’s most popular bundles acts as a tie-in with Marvel Studios Deadpool & Wolverine, allowing Fortnite players to purchase both Deadpool and Wolverine skins in brand-new, comic book-inspired styles.

Fortnite‘s Chapter 5 Season 4 content update launched at the end of August, propelling players into an exciting new world ruled by legendary Marvel baddie Doctor Doom. Officially titled Absolute Doom, Chapter 5 Season 4 is the latest Marvel-themed season to hit Fortnite, something many players had been hoping for ever since the release of Chapter 2 Season 4 in 2020. This Marvel update saw several iconic characters make their way into Fortnite, notably Wolverine, Iron Man, and Storm, with the game’s newest season adding other characters like Mysterio, War Machine, and a new variety of Doctor Doom into the mix.
