That’s the small hours of Friday in the UK.
Aside from its all-star cast – which includes the likes of John David Washington, Michael Caine, Kenneht Branagh, and Robert Pattinson – only a limited amount is known about Tenet at the moment, with its first trailer (below) giving little away. Even Wikipedia struggles on the synopsis front, merely stating that it follows a secret agent as he attempts to stop World War 3.
Whether or not Fortnite’s new trailer unveiling can shed more light on the movie remains to be seen, but those eager to tune in and find out can do so starting tonight, 21st May, at 8pm ET – that’s 1am on Friday 22nd May in the UK. You’ll need to be in Fortnite’s recently launched non-combat Party Mode and the trailer will be shown on the hour every hour.
Explaining how tonight’s collaboration with Christopher Nolan came about, developer Epic’s worldwide creative director Donald Mustard wrote on Twitter that the idea “came from a phone call…we were all talking about our love of seeing new trailers in a theatre and how sad we were that we can’t do that right now – but how maybe this could be the next best thing.”
Fortnite might initially seem like an odd place to give Tenet its second airing, but, at this point, it’s as much a marketing tool for brands eager to tap into the game’s millions-strong player base as it is a battle royale experience – the last year has seen Epic team up with a whole range of companies to inject the likes of Star Wars, Stranger Things, Batman, Marshmello, and, uh, Geoff Keighley into the game. When Epic goes all in though, the results can be spectacular.
