As rumoured, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was re-revealed during today’s State of Play PS4 Direct-style broadcast.

The brief Final Fantasy 7 Remake teaser showcased new gameplay footage as well as the first look at beloved flower girl Aeris and a glimpse of uber-baddie Sephiroth.

It was also promised that more FF7 information was coming in June, which surely is a sign that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will headline Square Enix’s E3 2019 event.

If you missed State of Play then you can watch the latest Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer below.

Following the big Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal the official Final Fantasy Twitter account posted a message from the game’s director Tetsuya Nomura.

And fans will be delighted to hear the launch window for the FF7 Remake is already being spoken about.

Nomura-san said: Most of the plans are already in place in the run up to launch, so please bear with us a little longer until we can release more information next month”.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but hopefully fans will be finding out when it’ll launch during E3 2019.

ORIGINAL: Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans have had to wait a long time for an update from Square Enix on the hugely anticipated PS4 title.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake was first revealed almost four years ago, with news on the JRPG revival few and far between since then.

In 2015 the Final Fantasy 7 Remake was announced at E3, with a gameplay trailer later emerging at PSX.

Since then Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans have seen news dry up, with only a handful of new screenshots released in 2017.

But this could all be about to change soon, with the rumour mill claiming the Final Fantasy 7 Remake could be getting a big update this week.

It’s been rumoured that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake could appear during the upcoming State of Play PS4 broadcast on Thursday May 9.

The rumour was sparked by ZhugeEX, a ResetEra administrator and an industry analyst.

The ResetEra admin previously warned fans to temper the expectations ahead of the first State of Play broadcast.

But in a post online ahead of the upcoming State of Play ZhugeEX wrote: “Last time I said “Don’t expect much”.

“Well this one will be better than the last for sure.

“We’ll see updates to Sony games, a new title (as mentioned in the OP) and also the re-reveal of a third party game that was announced long ago.”

Alongside the post was a picture of Final Fantasy Shinji Hashimoto, which seems to suggest the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is the title getting a re-reveal.

Hashimoto-san has also been tweeting about the upcoming State of Play broadcast.

The Square Enix bigwig retweeted a tweet about the inbound PS4 Direct-style presentation.

Hashimoto-san later quoted a PlayStation tweet about State of Play and wrote alongside it: “Oh. You’ve come”.

Elsewhere the official Final Fantasy Twitter has posted a cryptic tweet which simply shows a screengrab of the original Final Fantasy 7.

It remains to be seen if the Final Fantasy 7 Remake does get an update in the upcoming State of Play Direct.

But Square Enix did previously hint that FF7 news could be inbound ahead of E3.

A comment in a recent Square Enix investor briefing said: “I cannot go into any detail at the moment, but I believe we will be able to make various announcements in the lead-up to this year’s E3.”

It had previously been hinted that 2019 would be a big year for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

In an issue of Famitsu at the end of 2018, director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase were asked about their plans for 2019.

Nomura-san teased that his keyword for 2019 would be “seven” while Kitase-san said his buzzword would be “long-awaited”.
