Here’s how to get your hands on the new Tonberry gear and Frighten emote in FFXIV.
It’s time to get egg-cited in Eorzea as the Hatching-Tide event returns to Final Fantasy 14! This year you can bag yourself some adorable (or maybe even creepy?) Tonberry glamour gear, a new emote, orchestrion roll, and furnishing.
The event runs from today until April 10, 2023, 7.59am PDT/14:59 GMT. As always, seasonal events cannot be handed in after the event ends, so be sure to complete everything before then. For a full breakdown of this year’s event and how to get all the new items, we’ve got it all covered right here.
‘Get Along And Play Knife’ Seasonal Quest Walkthrough
To start this seasonal quest, speak to Jihli Aliapoh in Old Gridania at (X:10.2, Y:9.4).
After the cutscene, speak to Hamlyn just beside Jihli to don the Tonberry costume. You then have three Sylphs to scare away:

Return to Hamlyn at (X:10.2, Y:9.4), then afterward, speak to Jihli beside him to complete the quest.
Note: You’ll notice you haven’t earned any of those sweet rewards yet, but that’s because there’s another seasonal event to complete!
‘Chaos, Carnage, Eggs’ Seasonal Quest Walkthrough
Speak to Hamlyn at (X:10.2, Y:9.4) to accept this next quest.
Travel to the Central Shroud (Bentbranch Meadows is the closest Aetheryte) and travel to around (X:25, Y:29) to take part in the FATE ‘Don’t Be Sylphish’.
You might have to wait a short time for it to start. Once it begins, avoid the attacks and collect Archon eggs to hand into the FATE NPC before the time runs out. You’ll earn Special Midnight Archon Eggs for your troubles.
Speak to Jihli Aliapoh in Old Gridania at (X:10.2, Y:9.4) to hand in the quest and earn the Ballroom Etiquette – Unnerving Undulations (Frighten Emote) and the ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ achievement.
How To Unlock The Tonberry Gear And Other Seasonal Exclusives
To unlock the Tonberry gear, Pa-Paya Demastered Orchestrion Roll, and Hippity-hoppity Hatching-tide Advertisement, you’ll need to speak to the Dreamer Egg Advocate NPC at (X:10.2, Y:9.1) in Old Gridania.

Remember those Special Midnight Archon Eggs you earned from the FATE? Here’s where you can spend them. You can repeat the FATE as often as you like while the seasonal event is underway to earn more eggs and buy as much as you want.
