Have you been lucky enough to benefit from this generosity?
Fortnite servers are already back up and running with the v29.10 update having been applied – if you’re wondering what changed for the battle royale mode, you can check out the Fortnite v29.10 patch notes. Aside from the general adjustments to the game, some players have discovered a very different kind of change – one in their virtual wallets. Epic Games gifted certain Fortnite players 950 V-Bucks for free. That’s enough in-game currency to afford the current battle pass, which itself is the best way to gain even more V-Bucks as well as cosmetic rewards.
What’s behind this bout of generosity from Epic Games? No one really knows. What’s important is that you check your in-game bank account, because you might have gotten a good deal richer thanks to this update.

Players speculated that it might have to do with the promised refund for subscribers to Fortnite Crew, who recently had to purchase the battle pass due to an issue, but that compensation has already been paid out. Another possible reason is a problem with the battle pass acknowledged on March 25, 2024, which reset battle pass progress for some players or made it seem like they never owned it in the first place. Player levels appear to have been reset by this issue as well.
We are investigating an issue that appears to reset players' battle passes and/or shows it is no longer owned.

Epic Games has not updated players on any progress regarding this issue, but those free 950 V-Bucks could be an apology for the problem and may indicate that affected players will find their account restored to its original state.
