UPDATE: Diablo Season 16’s start time has been delayed for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Despite originally claiming that all platforms would get Season 16 content at the same time, Blizzard has now confirmed that PS4, Xbox One and Switch will get Season 16 at 1am UK time on January 19.
PC users in the UK will be able to access the Season 16 content at 4pm GMT as originally stated.
“Diablo III Season 16 will go live tonight at 16:00 GMT (01:00 GMT tomorrow for Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo consoles), along with the latest patch,” reads a Blizzard post.
“This means a brand-new buff, new cosmetic rewards, new Seasonal Conquests, quality of life changes, class set updates, and more!”
ORIGINAL: Diablo Season 16 is about to start on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
According to Blizzard, Season 16 has a January 18 release date and a 4pm start time in the UK.
The season has an estimated March 17 end date, although Blizzard admits this could change.
Dubbed the Season of Grandeur, the new season introduces a new buff designed to change the way users play.
“For the duration of Season 16, all Seasonal players will benefit from the legendary power of the Ring of Royal Grandeur,” Blizzard explains.
“This means you do not need to hunt down or equip the item to benefit from its Set bonus-enabling ability!
“Bear in mind that this buff does not stack with additional Rings of Royal Grandeur, whether they be equipped directly on your character or via the Jewellery slot in Kanai’s Cube.”
Essentially, players will now be able to combine different Class Set bonuses, or even add another Legendary power to their characters.
Needless to say, Season 16 will also feature lots of brand new rewards to unlock.
“In addition to the Helm and Shoulder slots of the exclusive Conqueror Set, players can earn a brand-new series of portrait frames themed around the clarion call of adventure,” Blizzard continues.
“For the most devoted cosmetic collectors, we have a pair of wings fit for a monarch. The Wings of Lempo draw inspiration from some of the noblest creatures in Sanctuary, and aside from a cosmically rare drop, few other wings are quite as lovely.”
Elsewhere, Blizzard has made numerous quality of life improvements with the latest update.
Legendary potions have been removed from player inventories, while Primal Legendaries have been given a boost.
“As power has increased over time, Primals have become more accessible across the board and we realized they were not celebrated or even as obvious as they should be, considering how ultimate they feel in a build,” the post adds.
“To this end, we’ve added specially colored beams and a unique mini-map icon to highlight when they drop, as well as shined up their tooltip and border colorations to be more discernible.”
