Cyberpunk 2077 Is Teasing A Possible Transmog System Update

When will we be able to explore Night City looking strong AND stylish?

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that is constantly getting better as CD Projekt Red attempts to clean the game up after its disastrous launch. Update 1.5 brought a whole host of improvements and fixes, but still didn’t introduce one much-requested feature that fans are crying out for – a transmog system.

Players still have to grapple with style over substance in Cyberpunk 2077, with some folk fed up that they can’t wear the best gear without looking like they fell into their wardrobe. This sentiment was expressed by Twitter user Ren Okage, who says they cannot get back into Cyberpunk 2077 “until it has a transmog system.” This comment was quickly followed up by the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account that simply replied with the “eyes” emoji.

Not only that, but the Quest Director for Cyberpunk 2077 – Pawel Sasko – also replied to Okage’s comment with the “eyes” emoji, hinting at the possible announcement of another update coming for the game in which a transmog system might be included. Obviously, this isn’t confirmation, but it’s unlikely that Sasko and the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account would react in such a way if it didn’t have something in the works.

It’s clear that CD Projekt Red has been working on a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077 for some time now. Earlier this year when Update 1.5 first dropped, Redditors quickly discovered that the framework for a transmog system was found within the update’s code, letting players hide face and headgear if they input certain console commands. While the feature is pretty barebones, it did indicate that CD Projekt Red was looking to fix the issue.

It’s been almost four months since this discovery, and you’d imagine that’s plenty of time to figure out a transmog system. It’s possible a new update could be announced alongside a teaser for the game’s expansion, the main quest of which seemingly leaked last month. The expansion will reportedly focus on a new character called Songbird, feature seven main quests, and take players into the Combat Zone in the Pacifica region as well as the Sports Dome.
