Infinity Ward confirms that it’s working on tweaks that aim to rectify one of the biggest complaints from Modern Warfare 2 players.

Infinity Ward is working on a solution to one of the biggest complaints from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 user base as it confirms tweaks to how lobbies disband after every game. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is currently hosting an open beta that is available to users to all users across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

The beta was previously open to PlayStation players who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 but eventually opened up to all audiences. Modern Warfare 2’s beta lasts till September 26, so users have a couple of days to their hands on the game. These beta events usually take place for developers to gather feedback and Infinity Ward has been regularly updating users with plans to tackle various issues. It now looks like the developer wants to address one of the most vocal complaints from Call of Duty players.

Infinity Ward confirms that it hears complaints related to how lobbies disband after every game in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The developer is working on a few tweaks that will increase the likelihood of lobbies staying together, and it will also improve the UI to share this information in-game. Infinity Ward doesn’t discuss any further details regarding how this will work, and players may have to wait for the full release to see the improvements.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players have been asking for persistent lobbies for a while now. It appears that many fans enjoy the social aspect this brings to the game, as they can form friendships and rivalries over the course of several matches. As of now, players can only select their preferred game modes and choose Quick Play, which will look for matches from these options. The lobby gets fully disbanded after every game as the matchmaking system begins a fresh search.

While Infinity Ward doesn’t commit to bringing back persistent lobbies, it’s probably encouraging for the user base to hear that the complaint is being looked into. However, it looks like the new tweaks will only increase the chance of a lobby staying together. Perhaps Infinity Ward can add a toggle to the menu of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, allowing users to switch it on if they want to play with persistent lobbies enabled. On the other hand, such options may divide the player base which can have an impact on the overall matchmaking system.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
