Blizzard reveals World of Warcraft’s upcoming Twitch Drop rewards viewers can earn before and after the release of Dragonflight.
Ahead of the release of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, Blizzard released more information about the game’s first Twitch Drops, including a rare mount, coming to the game. The cosmetic rewards that viewers can earn while watching streams of World of Warcraft were revealed just a week after the first phase of the pre-expansion patch went live.
In the nearly two decades since its release, World of Warcraft has had various ways both in and out of the game to earn cosmetic rewards. Ranging from companion pets to toys, the MMORPG has had crossovers with products and celebrities over the years. Ranging from themed flavors of Mountain Dew to TV commercials featuring Mr. T from The A-Team, each of these had fun items that players could obtain while the promotions lasted. The upcoming promotion with Twitch will be a first for the game. To earn Twitch Drops, viewers and players can participate in streaming for a set minimum of time during set intervals. Once the criteria are met, viewers can earn three different Twitch Drops, spanning before and after the launch of Dragonflight.
From November 15 to 17, Twitch viewers that watch at least four hours of World of Warcraft content can earn a Dragon Kite pet. When the expansion releases, watching any participating streams for at least four hours between November 28 and 30 will net viewers the Feldrake mount. The Feldrake was considered an incredibly rare mount for many years, having been only featured in the defunct World of Warcraft Trading Card Game as a loot card. At the time, loot cards came with unique codes that players could redeem for the mount. Finally, from December 13 to 28, viewers that watch at least two hours of content can earn the Perpetual Purple Firework toy. As a bonus, viewers that gift at least two subscriptions to viewers of a participating stream can earn a harvest golem pet called Ichabod.

The Twitch Drop campaign kicks off on November 15, which is the same day as phase two of the pre-expansion patch. Once phase two is live, players that have already upgraded to Dragonflight can create a new Dracthyr Evoker character and take part in the pre-expansion events. Before the campaign begins, both Twitch viewers and streamers will need to ensure their Battle.net accounts are connected to Twitch by logging into their Battle.net account and clicking on Connections. Streamers that wish to take part in the programs can enable Twitch Drops by opting in from the viewer rewards menu in the creator dashboard.
In the meantime, players can catch up on the features and class changes that are coming in Dragonflight. Currently, the new user interface, class changes, and talent trees are available for players to browse, test, and customize to their liking.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC. Dragonflight launches on November 28.
