Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 accidentally adds in a new operator skin that is causing issues with visibility.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 6 adds in plenty of new skins for players to earn, though one in particular is frustrating fans with how tough it is to see while playing. As a live service experience, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues to add new content for players, whether through bundles within the in-game store or as part of a seasonal battle pass. Season 6 recently launched for Modern Warfare 2, giving the game a more Halloween-style feel while also adding in the popular comic character Spawn alongside Skeletor, Ash Williams, and a host of others.

With so many new operators and skins being made, not all of them have been a hit with players. In fact, there have been plenty of examples of certain cosmetics that have given players an unfair advantage over their lower visibility, especially within darker areas of the map. The most notorious example of a skin giving players an unfair edge is with the operator known as Roze in the original Call of Duty: Warzone, who had an alternate skin that was almost entirely black, making it near impossible to see in low light areas. Unfortunately, multiple skins have continued to appear over the years with various visibility issues with the most recent one from Season 6 already proving to be problematic.
Over on the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 subReddit, a user called KobraKay87 posted a short clip of the latest skin-causing issues in both the multiplayer and Warzone. In the clip, the player is taken by surprise multiple times by another player wearing Nova’s latest skin called Gaia. While the skin turns Nova into a skinny version of the Marvel character Groot, the video footage shows how hard it can be to spot from a distance as the more neutral color tones help it to blend in with the surroundings and ultimately allow the wearer to get the drop on other players first.
Who thought adding a near invisible player skin to the game was a good idea?!

Many in the comments weren’t terribly surprised by this, calling the situation a standard in Call of Duty, there were more than a few who were worried that this problem is going to carry over into the next game. Recently, Activision revealed that Modern Warfare 3 is getting a “Carry Forward” system where players can take their unlocked weapons, camo, attachments, operators, and cosmetic skins with them from Modern Warfare 2. This means that problem skins like Gaia will also be available when Modern Warfare 3 launches, so players are hopeful that the issue is somehow sorted before that happens.

Roze hasn’t been the only skin that gave players trouble. During a special Festive Fervor event, players could go up against Krampus who typically targeted players camping or not playing the objective. While the feature was controversial enough at the time, a bug caused all sorts of chaos as it made Krampus entirely invisible to Call of Duty: Warzone players who could hear the sounds it made but would suddenly take damage and go down. Thankfully, the beast did get a nerf soon after, but it didn’t really seem to change player’s minds on the event overall.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
