Game Geeks News are pleased to present FLY GUYS, a 3D open-world flying collectathon game currently live on Kickstarter. Explore a vast, diverse collection of islands, take on challenges, and have fun at your own pace!
FLY GUYS is developed and produced by The Guys, an NH-based indie game studio of less than 20 developers. FLY GUYS started as a college project and took flight from there! In just two years, The Guys have launched a Steam demo of the game, and so far the demo has over 13,000 downloads. The goal is to release FLY GUYS by 2026, but ultimately, The Guys want to make the game the best it can be before releasing to players on PC and console. FLY GUYS was featured in a SNHU On Campus video from the 2023 Granite State Comicon.
This game is to bring back all those nostalgic, cozy feelings you got from cartoony and fun adventure games in the past. It is the kind of game to play on a big CRT, sitting on the floor, with your favorite blanket around you.
This Kickstarter is here to help fund the game’s continued development, marketing, and porting to consoles such as Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch.
FLY GUYS is an open-world laid-back adventure game where you play as an owl named Fly Guy or Fly Gal. A huge storm has knocked the islands and the eggs apart and it’s up to you to get everyone’s eggs back! Explore the different islands and complete challenges to help your bird friends.
This story takes place in a far, far away land known as The Archipelago. It is home to many different island worlds, each of them inhabited by many different species of fly guys, gals, and pals. It’s a great place to be!
All was right in the world until disaster struck!
Across the islands, a massive, destructive storm appeared. The storm blew the islands far apart and scattered all of the birds’ eggs. Oh no!
With bird families torn apart, and huge distances between friends, there were no other options. Someone had to save the eggs.
Fly Guy and Fly Gal to the rescue!!
🎮 Gameplay
As Fly Guy or Fly Gal, fly around the various islands to collect lost feathers, complete challenges for eggs, and talk to local birds! Fly Guy is a bit slower on the ground but is very good at flying. Fly Gal is fast on her feet, but not as good at climbing in the air as Fly Guy.
There are also 100 feathers on each island to collect! I wonder who they all belong to…
There are a variety of challenges on each island, with some being more difficult than others. These include flying through rings in tight spaces, racing against time, flying long distances, and delivering items to other birds. All of these will help you get the eggs back to their bird families!
Each island also has a special challenge or event that becomes accessible once all the other challenges on an island have been completed! These special events can range from rolling a fruit to the top of a mountain to a snowboarding race with a penguin!
FLY GUYS is a single-player game. Keyboard and Mouse are supported, but the game is best experienced by playing with a controller. The goal is to release the game on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.
📺 Platforms
FLY GUYS is planned to be released in 2026 on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. A large portion of the money from fundraising will be used for obtaining development kits for consoles, as well as getting the game working well on each system. Even during the early stages of development, we knew that we wanted to release this game on Switch especially. We think that FLY GUYS lends itself well to a handheld experience. We’ve also seen FLY GUYS fans playing the demo on Steam Deck with gyro controls enabled, which is neat!
For supporters who receive the full game on release, you will get a Steam code to redeem the game once it is out.
For supporters who get access to the beta, you will be sent a Steam code for the closed beta.
