A Red Dead Redemption 2 fan produces a new camera mod that allows players to change their perspective within the game’s cut scenes.
With the variety of mods available for Red Dead Redemption 2, players are often given the option to change their point-of-view within the game. Being a third-person action-adventure title, many fans had a demand for an RDR2 first-person VR mod just so they could see things in a specific manner. Recently, another fan has gone the extra mile, producing an original camera mod that lets players view the game’s cut scenes in both the first and third-person perspective, allowing for another level of story immersion when playing.
Having one of the most active communities online, Red Dead Redemption 2 fans will probably continue to create mods for the title for a long time. Whether it is to bring in the winter season by adding snow into the lands of RDR2, or re-creating real-life personalities as characters in the game, mods seem to be the lifeblood of player engagement, and often add spice when playing the three-year-old title. With a mod that lets its users view the game’s cut scenes in different perspectives, players will probably spend hours in RDR2 again just to see every little detail.

On Twitter, Shaun Akerman shared that he created and uploaded a first-person / third-person camera mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 on the NexusMods platform. The mod also comes with a free cam, which will let players freely explore the cut scenes. Implementing the mod into their game will allow players to see the riveting Red Dead Redemption 2 scenes and dialogues from different angles. This means fans will be able to view the expressions of other characters who are not visible but are present in the original cut scene.

Managed to create a mod that allows you to experience cutscenes in third/first person for immersion, and a free camera to explore them! 😄

According to NexusMods, this is the second mod that Akerman has created for Red Dead Redemption 2. The first one was also just recently uploaded but focuses on switching the behaviour of RDR2’s NPCs. The mod makes NPCs aggressively brawl with each other using melee weapons and their bare fists. Comments on the NexusMods pages do suggest improvements on both mods such as adding controlled support for the free cam one or toning down the aggression for the pedestrian brawl mod. Akerman seems to be very active and looking to improve his work, so fans will probably have a lot to look forward to with his creations.
Players who are interested in Akerman’s work should follow his official social media channels, and his NexusMods page to get updates on his work. Hopefully, the Red Dead Redemption 2 community continues to remain supportive, and offer constructive criticism for content creators like him.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
