Freeland is a new MMORPG, a world of limitless possibilities, a place to explore, a galaxy of opportunities! (For VR and PC)
Game Geeks News is proud to bring you another amazing Kickstarter project. Alex Andersson is a developer, creator and pianist with a limitless passion for the future of VR. Together, Alex and his team are working towards making the impossible possible through a virtual world. Freeland VR is a massive online VR world where you can enjoy social events, an immersive storyline, racing, PVE, PVP and custom player housing.

“Eons ago, the dark Lord Ventax and his great Horde were trapped into Deep Space by the Valiants led by Marmello the Son Of Littoras and Lord of the Guild Masters. Ventax is trapped in a prison of nothingness, the void of Deep Space, that dark abyss residing below our own plane of existence.
This joyous occasion was heralded with celebrations across the Galaxy. The Galaxy then became known as Freeland and for the first time, her people were free from evil and free from darkness. For eons the people of Freeland have lived in harmony, basking in the beauty of the Galaxy in peace and prosperity. Until now.

Ventax is hungry, hungry in the dark. His hunger has made him desperate. Through his Tendrils of Darkness, he has been reaching above, to the unsuspecting joy-filled minds of the Freelanders where all pain and suffering is but a distant forgotten memory. He reaches, he whispers, he corrupts.
In most areas in Freeland, there are build areas that you can start building from the ground on or load up your buildings from different presets. Anyone who passes by can see your building when it’s loaded in the public world. Easily create public or private events in-game that your friends or other players can join. These events can be tied to any location in-game and will give the players who join an option to instantly teleport to the events.
Freeland is filled to the brim with different quests, main quests for every planet, and side quests and anything in between. These quests won’t be repetitive as killing 20 enemies or collecting 20 of something, instead, they will be more story-driven, where you need to help various characters or societies in the Freeland Universe.

Create your own guild or join an already existing guild where you can easily communicate with other members or partake in epic journeys together. Guilds can also have a guildhall, for guild hang-outs and meetups.
Become truly unique in the Freeland universe by creating your customized avatar. At the beginning, you can customize a human character to anything of your liking and a Cyborg character. When you progress in the world of Freeland you will unlock more avatars, such as elf-like characters you can fully customize. There are various PVP arenas in the world of Freeland, where Freelanders select game modes to compete against each other for rewards and resources. You can select from treasure hunt (players hunts for hidden treasures), or classic team deathmatch.

Freeland contains PVE content such as world enemies on various planets, that will drop items and Freeland Coins, as well as world bosses for rarer rewards. Every planet will have one or more dungeons where you alone or your guild or group can explore hidden parts of the world, caves, ice-castles, temples and more with mysterious and dangerous creatures and bosses. Combat in Freeland is very skill-based and is mainly dependent on tactic and accuracy. Currently, supported weapon types are sword fighting, guns, bomb launchers, magic wands, and bows. All require different skill sets. In Freeland, there are many types of vehicles you can acquire, including cars, motorbikes, quad bikes, speed boats, jet skis, aeroplanes, helicopters, spaceships, dragons, flying horses, hippogriffs, flying brooms and more. These can be used to travel to different locations on planets as well as travelling between planets.
The universe of Freeland is filled with both literal Easter eggs you can search for and break to get unique rewards, as well as Easter eggs that aren’t as obvious that will be part of unveiling the true secrets of Freeland.

The risk with this project is the complexity both regarding the scope and technical aspects of creating a stable online world. To mitigate these risks, they have delayed this Kickstarter for 2 years to get time to test the technologies and develop the core features to make sure they can truly pull this off.
Alex and the team are basing their scalable infrastructure on Amazon’s web services, which provide world-class servers, databases, cloud storage that can easily scale to millions of users.
They already have a working alpha version since 2 years ago, that has been tested by people from all over the world over the past years. The main features of networked full-body VR-tracking, voice-chat, questing system, enemies for PVE, PVP Arenas, various types of Racing(Cars, Spaceships, Boats) and a flexible building system is already working.
What Alex and his team need now is more funds to increase the number of talented people and more testing and fixing of bugs, gameplay optimisation and finishing of the art, story and questline.
