The Division 2 developer Ubisoft is about to hold an open beta for the upcoming multiplayer shooter.

Available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, The Division 2 open beta has a March 1 release date and a 9am GMT start time in the UK.

For UK players, The Division 2 open beta ends at the same time (9am GMT) on March 4.

To ensure you don’t miss any of the action, you can pre-load the open beta from PSN and Xbox Live ahead of the big day.

It’s also worth pointing out that you don’t need PlayStation Plus or Xbox Gold to download and play the beta.

“Welcome to The Division 2 Open Beta!” reads an Ubisoft blog post. “If you did not get the chance to participate in our Private Beta phase, now is your chance!

“Available from March 1 – 4 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, we want to welcome you as you take your first steps into Washington, D.C.

“The beta introduces you to some of the unique features The Division 2 has to offer—main missions, side missions, open world activities, and one of the three Dark Zones—to name a few.”

In terms of content, the beta features two missions from the recent private test, and a brand new one.

The missions take place in the Grand Washington Hotel, Jefferson Trade Center, and Viewpoint Museum.

“As you explore D.C., five optional Side Missions will also be available for everyone who prefer to branch out from the main storyline,” Ubisoft continues.

“You will explore parts of four named zones, each possessing a specific level range to indicate difficulty as you traverse the world.”

This includes the White House – which serves as your base – Downtown East, The Federal Triangle and The Manning Institute.

Players will also be able to try out Dark Zone East, which contains a selection of overgrown government parks.

“You will acquire the DZ East introduction mission from Senait Ezera – the new Dark Zone NPC in the Base of Operations after completing Jefferson Trade Center,” Ubisoft explains.

“Completing this intro-mission unlocks full access to the Dark Zone and its features.”

Then there’s 4-vs-4 Conflict gameplay, which is playable across the Stadium and Capitol Ruins maps.

Anybody who played the private beta will be pleased to hear that Ubisoft has made some changes to the open beta.

The character level cap has been increased to level 8, while a brand new skill has also been added.

The Chem Launcher comes in two variants, including Riot Foam and Explosive Vapor.

Ubisoft also reminds fans that they are limited to one character during the beta, although this character can be deleted.
