Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Was The Fifth Best-Selling Game Last Year In The US

    Super Smash Bros. Ultimate dominated in the month of December last year and has also placed fifth in the top 20 US software sales of 2018. According to The NPD Group, it was a record year for the video game market in general within the US – with the industry generating $43.4 billion in revenue. This is an 18 percent increase year-over-year.

    Refocusing on the best-selling games of 2018 within the US, there were a total of six Nintendo exclusives on the list. Other than Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe placed eighth, Super Mario Odyssey was in the 15th spot, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was in 18th position, Super Mario Party was in 19th and the Pikachu version of Pokémon: Let’s Go placed 20th. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 took out the top spot.
