Pokemon Go developer Niantic has surprised fans with a special friendship event for the weekend.
The latest Pokemon Go event rewards players with various bonuses for trading and making friends.
Friendship levels will increase twice as fast for the duration of the weekend, while trades require half the Stardust.
Better yet, you’ll receive double Candy for every trade you make over the weekend.
The Pokemon Go Friend event runs between February 8 and 9pm UK time on February 11, so there’s still time to take advantage of all the bonuses.
“Friendships are special, and this weekend, they’ll provide extra bonuses!” reads a Niantic post.
“Be sure to make a new friend this weekend, and treat your current friends with some special Gift and trading bonuses!”
The friendship weekend will be followed by another in-game event on February 16.
The February Pokemon Go Community event takes place between 10am and 1pm GMT next Saturday.
Swinub is the star of the show, which is handy if you’re yet to catch a Piloswine.
Needless to say, catching and evolving rare Pokemon isn’t the only reason to take part in Community Day.
Lures will last for the duration of the event, so it’s worth saving any spare you might have.
It’s also good news if you’re low on Stardust for those Pokemon trades. You’ll get triple the Stardust for every catch, but only during Community Day hours.
Needless to say, fans will also be able to capture a shiny Swinub during Community Day.
That’s on top of an exclusive special move that will be available when you evolve Swinub to Piloswine.
Perhaps we’ll even see Mamoswine make an appearance.
